Среднее квадратичное значение первой гармоники действующего на ФЭПП модулированного потока излучения сигнала с заданным спектральным распределением, при котором среднее квадратичное значение первой гармоники напряжения (тока) фотосигнала равно среднему квадратичному значению напряжения (тока) шума в заданной полосе на частоте модуляции потока излучения.
